Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Management

Dr. Joel Kipkemoi Ng'eno is a Senior Lecturer specialised in the area of Mathematics Instruction he holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction of Egerton University, Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction of Egerton University and Bachelor of Education (Arts) of Egerton University. 

The Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Management was established in 1989 in response to need for qualified graduate teachers in educational institutions. The department trains high caliber professionals in Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Management.

Its Mission is to be a centre of excellence in creating, acquiring and disseminating knowledge and skills in curriculum development, instruction and educational management. Its Vision is to be a centre of excellence in creating, acquiring and disseminating knowledge and skills in curriculum development, instruction and educational management.

The following academic programmes are offered by the department; Bachelor of Education Science, Arts and Primary, Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction,  Science Education and Educational Management, Masters of Research and Public Policy,  Post Graduate Diploma in Pedagogy and Leadership (PeDaL), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Diploma in Education Primary and Arts and PHD in Curriculum and Instruction, Science Education and Educational Management.

The department has more than 2500 students and 25 lecturers. These includes 4 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 4 Senior Lecturers, 9 Lecturers, 5 Assistant Lecturers and 1 Graduate Assistant.

Research Activities

Members of the department are currently involved in the following research areas:

  1. Entrepreneurship as a Strategy for Funding Higher Education in Kenya - Dr. A.K. Sang, Dr. T. K. Rono and Dr. C. Mimuikha
  2. Developing Teaching Materials on Gender Issues for Post Graduate Studies Program in Sub-Sahara Africa Higher Learning Institutions – Prof. Ken Ondimu, Prof. Fred. N. Keraro and Beatrice N. Onsarigo
